Students with an MD degree earned in the United States or who are working toward one at UIC may use medical science courses to fulfill the 500-level course requirements. Such students must take PHYB 586, and 5 semester hours of elective 500-level didactic courses. The elective courses are chosen in consultation with the advisor.

The PhD Program. The PhD program in Anthropology at UIC is focused on candidates that have a solid theoretical foundation and who not only have a strong research base, but also can translate this knowledge and experience to the classroom.

Dr. Pliskin is a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Neurology with years of experience working as a neuropsychologist and directing Neuropsychology training programs. He has a special interest in the neuropsychological sequelae of medical illness. Alex Leow, MD, PhD. Currently Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Bioengineering at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and an Attending Physician at the University of Illinois Hospital, Dr. Leow’s unique multi-disciplinary skill set combines a medical degree with residency training and board certification in adult psychiatry and a PhD degree in applied mathematics.
